Phases of Recovery
*Each House Varies Slightly
Phase 1 – Blackout Phase
Each resident begins at Phase 1, regardless of previously achieved recovery goals, such as step work, involvement in treatment, job, schooling, etc.
Phase 1 lasts 30 days and is referred to as the “Blackout Phase” as it is recovery focused. There are no overnight passes given, no guests, and a medications list must be provided upon entry.
Resident’s expectations that should be accomplished during Phase-1 prior to phasing up to Phase-2 are:
- Follow all published House Rules.
- Abide by a 10:00pm curfew.
- Pay rent regularly and in a timely manner.
- Attend scheduled House Meetings, Living Skills Course meetings and recovery residence sponsored events.
- Fill out and attempt to achieve your SMART Goals.
- Live communally and pursue a peaceful environment in the recovery residences.
Phase 2 – Foundational Phase
Provided a Resident has accomplished the benchmarks outlined in Phase 1 and has been a resident for more than 30 days, the Resident then becomes eligible to enter Phase 2. Residents in this phase will be expected to abide by the same expectations as Phase 1 with the following additions and privileges:
- Resident may have guests during guest hours between 9am to 9pm.
- Residents may apply for and receive off-site overnight passes with House Manager approval, with a UA required upon return. One pass may be granted per week.
- Curfew is extended to 11:00pm.
- Must have established a sponsor or recovery coach and attend a recovery program of your choice at least 3x a week to maintain Phase 2.
- Residents need to begin actively seeking employment or education opportunities during this phase.
- Snohomish County Residents must obtain recovery coach at The Recovery Cafe or obtain a sponsor.
- Must maintain Phase 2 for 90 days to move to Phase 3.
Phase 3 – Final Phase
This is the final phase preparing for successful re-entry into society. Provided the Resident has accomplished the benchmarks outlined in Phase 1 and Phase 2 and has been a resident for more than 120 total days, the Resident becomes eligible to enter Phase 3. The Resident will be expected to abide by the same expectations as Phase 1 and Phase 2, with the following additions and privileges:
- Curfew is extended to 12:30am.
- Two overnight passes per week are granted upon approval, UA policy is still to be followed.
- Once a resident enters their fifth month of residency they need to be working full-time or attending school.
- Residents are active pillars in Kennedy’s Place Recovery Community, helping others achieve their goals and staying on task towards their own.
